The All Progressive Congress, APC, in Kano State, has issued a 72-hour demand to the NNPP Spokesperson, Ibrahim Karaye, and the NNPP to withdraw the accusations that the Kano government of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf is manipulating court proceedings and to provide a public apology.
The APC cautioned that failure to adhere to the demand would lead to legal measures for defamation against the NNPP and its spokesperson.
APC characterized the accusation as “false, malicious, and legally indefensible,” emphasizing that the Kano state administration has never interfered with judicial processes.
Recall that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) had alleged that the Kano state government was influencing court proceedings.
A statement released by APC spokesperson in Kano, Auwalu Soja Gwale, indicated that the claim, reportedly made by the factional Spokesperson of NNPP, Ibrahim Karaye, was devoid of evidence and aimed at undermining the judiciary.
The APC specifically refuted the assertions that the state administration paid considerable amounts to sway proceedings at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, calling for an immediate retraction.
According to the statement, the assertion was part of a trend of what it termed “reckless rhetoric” by factions within the NNPP whenever political results do not align with their interests.
The APC urged the Kwankwasiyya faction of NNPP to concentrate on resolving its internal leadership issues, citing ongoing litigations involving factions associated with Boniface Aniebonam and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso instead of meddling in frivolous matters.
They noted that it was inappropriate for a party entangled in internal conflicts to accuse the judiciary of corruption without substantiation.
The APC reaffirmed its dedication to the rule of law and urged the public to dismiss the allegation, labeling it as groundless.
