He attended the Catholic Bishop DuBourg High School.
Due to his father’s profession, their family had to relocate frequently. This instilled in Jack a passion for maps. Dorsey developed an interest in dispatch routing by the age of fourteen. His enthusiasm for computers led him to join his school’s computer club.
Dorsey devoted a significant portion of his time exploring the available models of IBM computers. Before transferring to New York University, he spent over two years at the University of Missouri–Rolla, but he withdrew after completing his first semester in 1999. While attending New York University, he initially conceived the idea that would later evolve into Twitter.
He did not remain at the University for long enough to obtain his degree and dropped out to focus on his concept.
