Mrs. Ukamaka Ejezie, widely known as Mama Biafra, has regained her liberty from the hold of security forces.
The representative of the imprisoned leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, verified her release in a brief announcement on Sunday.
He remarked, “I am exceedingly pleased to notify everyone that Mrs. Ukamaka Ejezie (Mama Biafra) has regained her liberty. She is now out of the DSS confinement. Thank you, Chukwuokike Abiama, for this significant achievement.”
“We are not wavering; every prisoner of conscience, including our tireless client, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, will soon reclaim their freedom.”
“We, as the legal team, are undertaking every legally acceptable measure to ensure this transpires; we are not pausing in our efforts at all, rest assured.
Forward always and never back!
We progress.”
Do recall that Mrs. Ejezie, reported to be the adoptive mother of Kanu, was apprehended during the IPOB leader’s recent court session in Abuja on May 18.
The septuagenarian had taken on the role of Kanu’s mother since his parents passed away in 2020.
“I encountered her at the DSS detention facility after her garments were laundered and hung on the wall. I insist that she be released, for she has committed no offense. She is an elderly woman, and since my mother’s passing, I have embraced her as my mother. The DSS ought to set her free,” Kanu had insisted.
