In 2004, Rivals.com ranked him as the No. 3 power forward in the country and a five-star recruit. While at LSU, he was named SEC Player of the Year in 2006 and led the Tigers to the Final Four, where he scored 17 points in their semifinal loss to UCLA.

After his sophomore year, Davis entered the 2007 NBA draft and was picked 35th by the Seattle SuperSonics. He was quickly traded to the Boston Celtics for Ray Allen.
