Eid-el-Fitr Celebration: COAS Comends Troops’ Dedication in the Battle Against Insecurity

The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, has praised the personnel of Joint Task Force-Operation Enduring Peace, JTF-OPEP, for their steadfast dedication and perseverance in the ongoing battle against insecurity in Plateau.
Shuaibu expressed this during an Eid-el-Fitr Luncheon with the troops on Friday in Jos.

The COAS was represented by Maj.-Gen. Isa Abdullahi, the Chief of Administration, Nigerian Army.

Shuaibu mentioned that the luncheon was arranged to honor the troops for their contributions towards a peaceful community.

“We wish to applaud our troops for their dedication and determination towards establishing a tranquil society.

“These are also the ethical foundations of military duty; the discipline necessary to forgo personal comfort, the resolve to withstand adversity and commitment to moral and spiritual rejuvenation.

“These attributes shape not only the devout but also the exemplary soldier.

“We also acknowledge with pride and appreciation our troops presently stationed across various operational theaters.

“As we rejoice with our families and loved ones, many of our comrades remain steadfast and resolute in their dedication to safeguarding our territorial integrity and protecting the lives of our citizens.

“They operate in challenging and frequently strenuous environments far from the comforts of their homes, yet remain loyal and professional. Their endurance, sacrifice, and valor are truly praiseworthy,” he stated.

The COAS further pledged enhanced welfare for the troops and their families, asserting that the welfare of soldiers transcends mere equipment.

Earlier, Maj.-Gen. Folunsho Oyinlola, the Commander of the JTF-OPEP, expressed gratitude to the COAS for organizing the luncheon for the troops.

Oyinlola, who lamented the recent events that resulted in the loss of some officers and men of the operation, stated, however, that it would not dissuade the personnel from the ongoing campaign against insecurity.

He urged the residents of Plateau and surrounding areas to support the military and other security forces in addressing all forms of security challenges in the state.
