A presumed abductor has perished and another severely harmed following a violent shootout with operatives of the Issele-Uku Police Division headed by CSP Aderemi Badiru, along with military personnel, local vigilante organizations, and hunters.
The Police have also liberated three abduction victims and detained a 22-year-old suspect, Ahmadu Hassan, during a synchronized search-and-rescue mission, recovering from him one AK-47 rifle loaded with four rounds of live ammunition.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, verified the situation in a statement in Warri.
The statement noted, “The Delta State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing battle against violent crime, successfully rescuing three kidnapped individuals, apprehending a suspected abductor, and seizing an AK-47 rifle after a fierce shootout in Issele-Uku.”
“Following a report of abduction received at the Issele-Uku Division on 16th March 2026, the DPO, CSP Aderemi Badiru, in partnership with the military, local vigilante organizations, and hunters, promptly mobilized and initiated a coordinated search-and-rescue effort, scouring identified hideouts in the surrounding forest.
“The operation culminated in a fierce exchange of gunfire between security personnel and members of the abduction syndicate.
“During the confrontation, one of the suspects was mortally wounded, while the three victims were rescued unscathed and have since been safely reunited with their families.
“Continuous searching of the surrounding area led to the apprehension of one Ahmadu Hassan (M), aged 22 years, from Kange Village, Awe LGA, Nasarawa State, who was discovered with gunshot wounds.
“A subsequent search of the vicinity resulted in the recovery of one (1) AK-47 rifle loaded with four (4) rounds of live ammunition.
“Following the operation, one of the suspected abductors who sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange of fire was later confirmed deceased, and the body has been deposited in a mortuary.
“Meanwhile, the injured suspect is presently receiving medical attention under police custody, and efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate as investigations continue.”
