Delta Authorities Takedown Organizers Behind Disturbing Sexual Violence Festival

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended Chief Omorede Sunday, the coordinator of the Oramudu Festival in Ozoro Community, Delta State, along with four others, following allegations of young women being sexually attacked and harassed during the occasion.

The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, denounced the purported sexual assault and harassment of young women, cautioning that acts of sexual violence are illegal, inhumane, and represent a severe infringement of the basic rights and dignity of the victims.

He has thus mandated an immediate inquiry into the matter.

A statement from Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, stated, “CP Aina Adesola has directed that the case be promptly forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry.

“Tactical and investigative resources have been appropriately deployed with a clear directive to identify, detain, and ensure the prosecution of all individuals deemed responsible.”

The Command calls upon members of the public, especially victims and witnesses, to come forth with any information that could assist ongoing investigations.

He remarked, “All information provided will be handled with utmost confidentiality and the highest degree of professionalism.”

CP Adesola also urged residents of the state to remain calm, alert, and law-abiding, while assuring that the Command is entirely dedicated to protecting lives, safeguarding the rights of all citizens, and upholding public order.

The Delta State Police Command categorically condemns this situation and guarantees that all those implicated in the abhorrent act will be apprehended and prosecuted in line with the law.
