Seasoned Nollywood star, Eucharia Anunobi has shared insights regarding the criticism she encountered after her portrayal in Glamour Girls 2 nearly three decades ago.
During a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Anunobi disclosed that she suffered significant criticism because certain individuals did not grasp that her portrayal as Anita, a bold and promiscuous escort in the film, was not a reflection of her true self.
She noted that some began to equate her with Anita’s character in the film and labeled her “a husband thief and water spirit.”
She remarked, “I experienced a considerable amount of criticism for my role in Glamour Girls 2. You know, at that time, the Nigerian society feigned disregard for such films. Consequently, many individuals were categorizing me. They referred to me as Sharon Stone, Water Spirit, Husband Thief.
“The character I embodied was a student who took away a rich man from his spouse. Thus, many perceived me as a seductress. Well, I am indeed captivating.
“I can’t refute that because denying it would equate to denying God. A lot of people were like, ‘Leave your partner with Eucharia; she’s going to lure him away.’ It became so extreme that if women spotted me in the presence of their partners, they would clutch them tightly,” she stated.
Anunobi concluded by affirming that she merely interpreted a script.
The film star disclosed that she received additional compensation for the steamy bathtub scene alongside Zack Orji in the movie.
