The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede, has stated that the board is not accountable for the lack of mobilization of Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Mr. Oloyede provided this clarification during a meeting with the leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) in Abuja.
He clarified that JAMB solely administers entrance assessments and oversees admissions into tertiary institutions via its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), stressing that the board does not manage admissions for HND programs.
He noted, “polytechnics are tasked with admitting students into HND programs,” adding that the challenges affecting the mobilization of certain graduates are often associated with irregular admissions or discrepancies in records submitted by institutions.
The JAMB registrar encouraged impacted graduates to address such matters with their institutions, pointing out that eligibility for mobilization into the NYSC scheme is determined by pertinent authorities, not the examination body.
He reiterated the board’s dedication to sustaining a clear admission process while advising institutions to ensure precise documentation of student records to prevent issues during mobilization.
