“Child Abduction Shocker: Two Arrested in Adamawa”

Two individuals have been apprehended in Adamawa State for purportedly kidnapping a four-year-old child and soliciting a ransom.

The Adamawa State Police Command detained the two alleged abductors in relation to the kidnapping of the four-year-old boy in Ngballang, a locality in Numan Local Government Area.

The Police officials stated on Friday that the occurrence was reported on March 2, 2026, when Umar Ibrahim, a resident of Ngballang, submitted a complaint at the Numan Police Division stating that his son, Ramadan, had gone out to play on March 1 but did not return home.

According to the officials, preliminary attempts by the family and the community to find the child were futile, until the father received a call a few days later from an unidentified number, notifying him that his son had been taken.

The abductors reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦800,000 for the child’s release.

As per the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, following the report, operatives from the Numan Division initiated an inquiry which culminated in the detention of the two suspects identified as Sadiq Ali, 19, and Shitu Umar, 23, both inhabitants of Lafiya in Lamurde Local Government Area.

Nguroje mentioned that the suspects admitted to the offense during questioning, and the command has since instructed its Anti-Kidnapping Unit to assume control of the case for further investigation and potential prosecution.

Nguroje reiterated the command’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state.
