Breaking: We didn’t remove Mbaka from Adoration Ministry — Catholic Church

The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria has stated that Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka had not been dismissed from the Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria (AMEN).

National Director of Social Communications, Padre Michael Umoh, who revealed this in a communiqué released in Abuja on Monday, articulated that Mbaka was directed to spend a period in contemplation at a monastery to discern what the Spirit of God wished to convey to him.

Umoh mentioned that Mbaka continues to be the Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry despite incorrect reports circulating in certain circles.

The CSN clarified that the explanation was essential due to a news article that inaccurately implied that Bishop Callistus Onaga dismissed Fr. Ejike Mbaka from his position as the head of the Adoration Ministry.

Umoh elaborated that Mbaka himself nominated Fr. Anthony Amadi to serve as the interim administrator of the Adoration Ministry during his absence.

He stated, “According to an interview with the Director of Communications, Enugu Diocese, Rev. Fr. Ben Achi, Very Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka was not dismissed from the Adoration Ministry, as many assertions are indicating.

“Instead, as indicated by Fr. Achi, since it was advised that Fr. Mbaka take time away for solitary reflection to comprehend what the Spirit of God has to share with him, he was permitted to suggest a priest to oversee, in the interim, the faithful at the Adoration Ministry.

“With the sanction of his Bishop, on Sunday, 2 October 2022, Fr. Mbaka presented Fr. Anthony Amadi to the congregation.

“Regrettably, some individuals remained dissatisfied and preferred that Fr. Mbaka stays.

“What every genuine Christian, particularly every devoted Catholic, should engage in at this time is to dedicate our beloved brother and priest, Fr. Mbaka, to God in prayer so that he may, through this phase, experience God profoundly, emerge stronger and better in recognizing His will for him, and acquire more graces to utilize those unique gifts for His glory and for the sanctification of the people of God and society as a whole.

“The Church holds Fr. Mbaka in high regard and values him as an esteemed son.”
