BREAKING: CAF Names Morocco AFCON 2025 Champions, Rescinds Senegal’s Title

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has declared Morocco as champions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The CAF Appeal Board decided in favor of Morocco, stating that Senegal abandoned the AFCON final by leaving the field during the match.

Morocco was granted a 3–0 walkover victory.

This ruling supports Morocco’s appeal following the tumultuous occurrences during the game.

NAIJATAB recalls that the Senegal team momentarily exited the pitch in objection after a disputed penalty was given to Morocco late in regulation.

They were summoned back to the field by their captain, Sadio Mané, and ultimately triumphed in the match 1–0.

CAF determined that this conduct constituted a breach of Article 84 or the corresponding rules relating to refusal to play or leaving the field.

According to AFCON regulations, a team that declines to continue playing or departs the field without permission is subject to elimination and forfeiture of the match.
