INEC names Tinubu the victor of Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election
The All Progressive Congress’s (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been named the victor of Nigeria’s seventh presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Tinubu garnered 8,794,726 votes, surpassing his nearest competitor, Atiku Abubakar from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 6,984,520 votes.
With 6,101,533 votes, Peter Obi from the Labour Party finished in third place. The NNPP came in fourth with 1,496,687 votes.
The chairman of INEC, Mahmoud Yakubu, announced the outcome: “Bola Tinubu of the APC, having fulfilled the legal requirements, is hereby proclaimed the winner of the election.”
Obi reported a total of 2,466,638 registered voters, 241,523 valid votes, 249,631 votes cast, and 8,108 votes rejected.
A summary of the Presidential election results as reported at the National Collation Centre in Abuja. The overall number of registered voters was 25,286,616 and the total votes cast was 24,965,218.

A follower of Islam, Tinubu is wed to a Christian, Oluremi Tinubu, who currently serves as the Senator for Lagos central. His mother, Abibatu Mogaji, passed away on June 15, 2014, at the age of 96.

At the age of 40, Bola Tinubu commenced his political journey in 1992.

He adopted the name Tinubu after being sought for drug-related offenses in the 70s in the US. That’s why he didn’t present them (the certificates) to INEC.”

I went into self-exile from October 1994 to October 1998. Upon my return, I found that all my possessions, including all documents relating to my qualifications and certificates mentioned in paragraph three above, were taken by unidentified individuals.
My residence was subjected to a series of searches by various security agencies following the military takeover of the government on November 17, 1993.
I held the position of chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Banking and Finance. I was also a plaintiff in one of the two lawsuits filed against the interim national government in 1993.
I went into exile when it became evident that my life was in jeopardy,” Tinubu stated in his assertion.
However, Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia, has not recorded any previous alterations to Tinubu’s name.
Nigerians have reacted to his inability to specify the names of schools he attended and provide copies of his certificates.
This assertion is thought to have heightened suspicions that he either did not acquire schooling as assumed or is concealing certain details about himself that could jeopardize his chances in the upcoming election.
There is insufficient evidence to substantiate the claim that Bola Ahmed Tinubu altered his name in the past for any reason, and he has consistently maintained that he is from Lagos State.
