Michelle Chinwendu Alozie (born 28 April 1997) is an American-born Nigerian professional soccer player who operates as a forward for National Women’s Soccer League club Houston Dash and the Nigeria women’s national squad. Michelle Alozie is undoubtedly the ‘most glamorous’ Super Falcons star.
The 25-year-old forward made her debut for the senior national team in 2021 and has quickly become an integral part of the squad.
Her graceful physique captivates more often than not when she decides to showcase her stunning figure.
It’s as if she is aware that she’s an absolute darling, frequently reminding her supporters of that unique truth, reflected in her impressive fashion on her social media accounts.
Many may not perceive the ‘melanin radiating’ when she’s playing, but the moment she steps out of her uniforms, she invariably dazzles and knows how to impress whether she’s sunlit or enjoying the autumn chill.
Alozie’s formative years
Alozie was born to Nigerian parents from Imo State and was brought up in Apple Valley, California. She completed her education at Granite Hills High School.
College career
Alozie played soccer for the Yale Bulldogs while she was an undergraduate at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. She later transferred as a graduate to the University of Tennessee to continue playing for the Tennessee Volunteers after experiencing a torn anterior cruciate ligament that interrupted her senior year.
Despite registering for the 2019 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft, Alozie was not selected.
Kazygurt BIIK
Alozie committed to BIIK Kazygurt, the reigning champions of the Kazakhstani women’s football league, in January 2020. Before COVID-19 disrupted the season and she returned to California, she engaged in three months of training and played for the team.
Dash for Houston
In 2021, as a preseason trialist without a contract, Alozie joined the Houston Dash, where her childhood friend Ally Prisock was playing. Twila Kilgore, a Dash assistant, previously recruited Alozie when Kilgore was the head coach of the Pepperdine Waves. A complete contract for the remainder of the season was signed by Alozie in August 2021 after initially agreeing to a national team replacement contract during the Houston Dash season of 2021. Alozie’s first postseason start was made during the Dash’s participation in the 2022 NWSL Playoffs.
Alozie secured a two-year contract extension with the Dash in December 2022.
International career
On June 10, 2021, Alozie made her senior debut for Nigeria as a 65th-minute substitute in a 0-1 friendly defeat to Jamaica. Randy Waldrum, who had formerly overseen the Dash, appointed Alozie as his team’s mascot. On June 8, 2021, while Alozie was still a trialist with the Dash, he requested that James Clarkson include Waldrum in the team’s practice. At that time, Waldrum listed Alozie and Esther Okoronkwo for the roster against Jamaica the next day. Due to limited alternatives, Waldrum utilized Alozie in the full-back position.
She joined the 23-member Nigerian team on June 16, 2023, in preparation for the FIFA Women’s World Cup. On July 21, 2023, she faced Canada in a goalless draw, marking her FIFA Women’s World Cup debut. Six days later, she played a vital role in Nigeria’s 3-2 triumph over co-hosts Australia. She ultimately played every minute of the tournament for the Super Falcons, assisting Nigeria in overcoming England on penalties after a 0-0 draw in a fiercely contested round of 16 match in Lang Park, Brisbane.
Medical pursuits off the field
Alozie earned her degree in molecular biology from Yale University. She works part-time as a cancer research technician at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.
