The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announces it has enlisted over 1.8 million candidates for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Director of Media and Information at the board, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, revealed this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.
The enrollment of candidates for the entirely Computer Based Test (CBT) initiated on Feb. 10 and concluded on Feb. 21.
As per his statement, the registration was immensely successful, indicating that there were no difficulties at any of the accredited registration centers nationwide.
The JAMB spokesperson also refuted rumors circulating in some circles that candidates could begin printing their examination notification slips starting March 2.
He stated, “This is erroneous and completely incorrect.
“Let me make it clear that the board has not published any date for either the examination or the printing of examination notification slips for candidates.
“The board will soon declare the date for the 2019 UTME.
“At this moment, no date has been set for both the examination and the printing of examination notification slips.
“The examination slips are typically printed two weeks prior to the actual examination, but only after the examination date has been determined.
“There is no way anyone can print an examination notification slip when the examination date itself has yet to be established.”
He urged candidates and other involved parties to stay calm, assuring them that the board would announce the date for the examination and the printing of examination slips with proper dissemination of information.
