As focus begins to shift toward the 2027 general elections, former federal legislator Farah Dagogo has urged Nigerians to participate in the electoral procedure with an elevated sense of accountability.
He highlighted the significance of selecting leaders whose policies will improve living conditions and foster national progress.
Dagogo, who represented Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly, encouraged voters to be deliberate in their choices by thoroughly evaluating the pledges and histories of candidates, particularly those aiming for re-election.
He pointed out that the quality of leadership that surfaces will substantially reflect how critically voters appraise their alternatives at the polls.
Establishing a link between civic duty and the current spiritual season, the former legislator noted that the simultaneous observation of Ramadan and Lent presents a valuable occasion for self-reflection and moral contemplation.
He characterized the overlap as both symbolic and educational as the nation approaches another electoral cycle.
In a statement issued by his media representative, Ibrahim Lawal, Dagogo also conveyed best wishes to Muslim and Christian adherents, lauding their commitment to fasting, sacrifice, and spiritual rejuvenation.
He urged Nigerians to incorporate these values into their responsibilities as citizens.
“I celebrate with Muslims and Christians during this unusual intersection of Ramadan and Lent at the commencement of an electoral cycle. It emphasizes a significant spiritual element that should inform our national decisions,” he stated.
He additionally emphasized that while spiritual practices hold importance, Nigerians must prioritize competence, accountability, and integrity when choosing leaders, asserting that strengthening democracy relies on voters aligning their ethical standards with their selections at the polls.
