
A gubernatorial contender in Benue State representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Terwase Tortiv-Ato, has conveyed assurance that the party is optimally positioned to secure victory in the 2027 gubernatorial election within the state.
Ato articulated this during a discussion with reporters at his home in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
He remarked that the PDP remains one of the most robust political entities in the state and continues to garner substantial grassroots support throughout numerous communities.
As per his statement, the framework and cohesion within the party have rendered it a potent political force in anticipation of the upcoming general elections.
“The PDP stands as the most robust political organization in Benue State at present. The party is unified and firmly established at the grassroots level, and that endows us with a significant advantage as we approach the 2027 elections,” he stated.
The gubernatorial aspirant also lauded several prominent leaders of the party for their contributions to fortifying unity within the PDP in the state.
He specifically acknowledged the former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, who also serves on the party’s Board of Trustees, alongside the Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, and the PDP Chairman of Benue State, Ezekiel Adaji.
Ato indicated that their guidance and dedication have contributed to enhancing the party’s infrastructure and expanding its support network throughout the state.
In his view, their collective endeavors have made the PDP increasingly formidable, more appealing to the voters, and better equipped to reclaim political authority in the state.
Ato encouraged voters in the state to thoroughly assess candidates prior to extending their endorsement.
He urged the electorate to transcend party allegiance and pose critical inquiries regarding the intentions and capabilities of those vying for public office.
“Individuals should pose challenging questions when politicians seek their votes. They ought to inquire how these promises will be financed and demand explicit commitments. Leaders must be responsible for what they pledge,” he asserted.
Ato further emphasized that leadership grounded in transparency, accountability, and service to the populace would aid in restoring public trust in the government and foster progress throughout Benue State.
